GRP lends itself perfectly to Lego. At Elite Composites we worked closely with Lego in effort to redesign the boats used on the pirate falls ride at the theme park situated in Windsor.

Our redesign involved the implementation of a integrated rear bumper. The original design was large and manufactured from steel. This weighed a considerable amount so our redesigned version of the boat saved on weight without compromising on strength.

The original internal ribbing system was manufactured with steel. Using The latest GRP engineering techniques we created a GRP ribbing system, that saved on weight, as well as providing a strong water resistant solution.

The old boats used a step and grip tape on the sides to prevent users from slipping and injuring. The tape was prone to wear and on current boats most of the tape was peeling off. Our design engineers created a rough surface on the edges, and levelled out the step to create a safer surface for feet.

After the manufacture, we use our in house engineers to organise and carry out all fixtures and fittings of the boats including wheels bumpers and hand rails. Boats are delivered ready to use, and are scrutinised by our own quality control as well as Lego's own testing methods.

Our redesigned boats will live on for much longer than the originals, providing a safe fun ride for families for decades to come.
